Redevelopment of the State Library of Victoria
11 May 2018
The State Library of Victoria is one of Australia’s oldest and busiest public libraries. Most Victorians and many tourists from interstate and overseas have visited or know about the library’s iconic and historic domed reading room. The primary focus of this $88 million project is the refurbishment of the Library’s heritage spaces. The redevelopment will create innovative contemporary spaces that embrace new technology within this important Victorian cultural institution. Andrew Christoforou, Partner leads the team for McKenzie’s and he is supported by staff from both our Victorian and Queensland offices in providing both building surveying and accessibility services. Our integrated approach to project compliance and consulting allows for the development and implementation of holistic compliance solutions focussed on the specific requirements of individual projects. The team is enjoying working with our project partner Architectus in providing proactive support and solutions to the issues inherent in such a complex and historically sensitive project.
