Earlier in 2018 the Moonee Valley Racing Club appointed superannuation fund Hostplus and property developer Hamton to transform the racecourse into a ‘world-class thoroughbred racing centre’ and one of the world’s greatest night time racing venues.
The $2 billion redevelopment includes the construction of a new grandstand, a redeveloped infield suitable for community and major event use, plus a re-oriented racetrack. In addition the site has been rezoned with nine hectares of the 40 hectare site available for redevelopment as a modern urban precinct with plans to include new public parks and facilities, food and beverage, complementary retail, innovative work-spaces and world class residential homes.
