NSW Legislation Update – Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety)
On the 1st July 2020 the NSW Government introduced legislative changes regarding the accredited persons able to endorse measures for the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS). The EP&A Regulations now states that Essential Fire Safety Measures (EFSM) are to be endorsed on the Annual Fire Safety Statement by an Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety). This replaces the previous terminology of Competent Fire Safety Practitioner (CFSP).
What does this mean for building owners?
The measures can be endorsed by any person that have attained their accreditation for the specific measure through the accreditation body – Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPAA). Trade contractors with the appropriate accreditation can endorse the respective measures on your AFSS.
